A New Icon in Thai Luxury: The Rosewood Hotel Bangkok

Celia Chu Design and Associates Unveils a Masterpiece of Thai Culture and Modernity

Immerse yourself in the story of the Rosewood Hotel Bangkok, a 30-storey architectural marvel that seamlessly blends Thai culture with contemporary design. This luxury hotel, designed by Celia Chu Design and Associates, is a tribute to Bangkok, a city built on water, and the rich Thai culture.

The Rosewood Hotel Bangkok, a visually stunning skyscraper, stands out in the city's skyline with its unique form inspired by the 'wai', a Thai gesture of greeting. The modern silhouette is a creative expression of the Thai spirit, and the interior design elements and exquisite water features within the hotel pay homage to the city's heritage.

The design process was akin to writing a novel about a prestigious family and their love for Thai culture. Each room and space in the hotel represents a chapter of this book, with various aspects of Thai culture adorning the building. The hotel's interior is designed to resemble a grand mansion, reflecting the opulence and elegance of Thai culture.

The hotel's unique properties are not just limited to its design. The Rosewood Bangkok is a 30-storey, visually stunning architectural marvel. Its form is inspired by the wai, a famous Thai gesture of greeting, while the modern silhouette is a creative expression of the Thai spirit. Rich Thai culture is also emphasized by interior design elements and the exquisite water features within the hotel that are a tribute to Bangkok, a city built on water.

The hotel's design was realized using a variety of materials, including marble, timber, metal, tinted stainless steel, lacquer, plain and embossed leather, fabric, frp wall, wallpaper, bamboo panel, artistic silver glass, bespoke lighting, wood carving, and resin pattern tile. Many of these materials were locally sourced to reflect Thai culture. The most unique element is the pattern tile made with resin, used in the guestrooms' bathrooms. The pattern was custom-made to represent the traditional ornament inside the Thai Grand Palace.

The Rosewood Bangkok's guestrooms fuse elegantly modern interiors with panoramic views of the metropolis. The hotel features 159 rooms, including 34 suites and studios, as well as three signature houses which also boast their own private pools and terraces. The innovative design and architecture of Rosewood Bangkok has allowed the creation of unique rooms and suites throughout the entire property, with no two floors sharing the same configuration.

The design team faced challenges due to the architecture of the building. Every floor has different conditions and sizes, meaning no two floors have the same layout. The design team spent much time ensuring the continuous design language on every floor and every room. Another challenge was the tilted façade, which gives a strong personality and limitation to the interior space. The curtain system was designed specially to fulfill every window condition.

The Rosewood Hotel Bangkok is more than just a hotel; it's a testament to the rich culture and modern spirit of Thailand. Its design, inspired by the traditional Thai greeting and the city built on water, is a tribute to the country's heritage. This architectural marvel, designed by Celia Chu Design and Associates, is a new icon in Thai luxury and a winner of the prestigious Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020.
